how big of wire should the wire be that is going to the battery. I was told that my cable is getting bad and possibly could be the cause of why my cars not starting anymore. I need to know what size of wire to get up cable to go to my battery. From what I know about stereo equipment such as that bigger is always better. That the case in this scenario?

my car was not charging the battery so I removed the alternator to have it tested. Brought in the alternator and they figured out that the alternator is still good. So that means that the alternator is good but not charging my battery somehow. I've no idea how it is happening but that is what is happening. Can someone with a little more expertise tell me how this is happening?

I just bought a new alternator and installed it today with a new belt. I went to go start the car to test everything out in the alternator was making a weird squealing noise. I was afraid of the alternator burning up so I turned off the motor. I started wondering what that noise can be. It almost smell like something was starting to burn up to as well. What do you think I sound like that could be on a brand-new alternator set up?

a friend of mine told me that rebuilding alternators is truly not that hard. I guess in the past I've always just gone and bought new alternators but the price is starting to add up. With having numerous vehicles and lots of alternators going out I'm starting to lose a lot of money. What all is consisted in rebuilding an alternator and how hard is it? Doesn't seem to be too hard from my friend told me bought he is pretty good at doing what he does to.

_Rebuilding an alternator myself, hard? I have a lot of the a cold and sometimes the alternators go bad. if I keep having to buy new alternators I'm going to be broke very fast. How hard is it to rebuild these myself? I'm pretty handy with my handsome fast learner. What all is involved in rebuilding an alternator? is it something that is out of my reach I need expertise to do?

I know right now on average alternators cost about 130 dollars. anti have 1 rebuilt it's around 50 to 60 dollars. If I could learn to rebuild it myself that would be awesome.

How hard is it?

_I have the alternator out of my car because I need a new 1. I'm wondering if I can start the car without an alternator. you have to think a car will run with a charged battery. My battery is fully charged and I am ready to start my car to see if it will start. is it safe to start my car with out an alternator. What will happen and I what should I expect? is there any thing that will hold it back from starting.

I think I remember hearing years ago that it might not start without an alternator. some sort of center that the wire needs on the computer something. I guess I'm gonna maybe try and see what happens.

_Ford Upgrade in alternator

_
I have a ford probe that has a 70 amp alternator. I am wanting a bigger alternator with more amperage. what are my options for putting in a different alternator. I have thought about putting up please interceptor alternator in because of the high amperage. I can modify a bracket for it to fit in.

I need a pigtail adapter so that I can hook up the new alternator in my car. where can I buy a different pic tail adapter? and how many amps should I put in this car if it had 70 to begin with? I'm just looking to upgrade the alternator because hi alport's are so expensive.

My mx6 has now gone through 3 alternators in the last 8 months. The only thing I can think of yelling is "WTF!!" But little good does that do me. I need to know why my mx6 is doing this crap! i dont' know much about electrical on cars and I just keep installing new alternators in teh mx6 because I don't know what is srong. I am more of a mechanical person that an electrical person.
